Interior design students and designers are invited to join ASID Michigan for a virtual “Student Appreciation Event” on July 1 from 12 - 2 p.m. During this online event, students will be able to have their resumes and portfolios reviewed by industry experts and ask questions about the industry.

Connect!: “Project Porcelain”

Dive into all things porcelain with Leonardo's Marble & Granite! Trade members are invited to join Michigan’s first fabricator and installer in their showroom, Suite 102-B, on July 13 at 10 a.m. for an informative presentation on this versatile surface material. Come have a pastry and coffee and learn more about porcelain’s resilient characteristics that make it an ideal choice for a variety of applications, both indoors and out. Launch! Tour: “Aging in Place”

Back by popular demand! Aging in place is closely connected to greater health and wellness outcomes for seniors. Interior designer Lois Haron, president at Lois Haron Designs, gives her top tips on what design decisions to consider when creating a safe and comfortable home that will improve the lives of seniors. Join Lois on Thursday, July 22, at 10 a.m., during this informative tour throughout Michigan Design Center.

July Mini-Sessions in the RC

Join ART + FRAME and Pewabic for one or two informative 20-minute presentations at their booths in the Resource Center, Suite 84. ART + FRAME will explore the various options available in custom framing and Pewabic will explain the timeless nature of their hand-crafted tiles and rich glazes.

Pewabic will be selling an assortment of tiles, vases, and pottery from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Visit Suite 84 to buy a keepsake for yourself or someone special. Cash and credit will be accepted.

Launch! Session: “Style and Function”

Beauty is in the details and is appreciated most when it exemplifies function. Amanda Sinistaj, founder of Ellwood Interiors, will be sharing her top tips for creating stylish spaces that are surprisingly functional. Enjoy great conversation and learn several different ways in which style and function can complement each other during this inspirational Launch! Session on July 29 at 10 a.m. in the Mid-America Room, Suite 86. Gift bags will be provided to those attending.

Designers’ Own Homes Virtual Home Tour

Michigan Design Center’s fifth “Designers’ Own Homes” Tour will be held virtually from Friday, September 17 - Monday, September 27. This video presentation tour will provide an intimate glimpse into the personal homes of six seasoned professional interior designers, including the residences of Dawn Jacobs, Annie Kordas, Rachel Nelson, and Cheryl Nestro along with the vacation homes of Barry Harrison and Kevin Serba. The homes span the state of Michigan, from the Grosse Pointes to Saugatuck, with several spectacular stops in between, showcasing the wide variety of designers who live there. All net proceeds will benefit Detroit Public Television (DPTV) and their non-commercial, educational programming. Single tickets are $25, or host a watch party for $40. Watch party ticketholders will be entered to win a $1000 gift certificate for a shopping spree at Michigan Design Center! Sales will begin in early August, so stay tuned for more details.
